International audienceThis article is structured around two types of autobiographic writings by Vittorio Foa, first an anti-fascist resistant, then a political prisoner from1935 to 1943, he became after WW II a union-leader, a politician and then a historian. In his epistolary, the narrating of the self is a matter of immediacy. There was no time for the discursive reasoning to be rethought or reorganized , and so it offers the raw and instant evidence of a historical and sociological given moment. Le discours n'a pas eu le temps d'être repensé, réordonné, et nous offre donc un témoignage à froid, immédiat, d'un moment historique et sociologique donné.
