Toxoplasmosis, which is caused by the intracellular parasite Toxoplasma gondii is characterized by a life-long chronic infection. The parasites replicate inside a parasitophorous vacuole (PV), which evolves into a persistent cyst. The molecular mechanisms governing the differentiation process are poorly characterized.
