Most scholars have answered the question of the so-called religious conflicts with the common place assumption that violence is intrinsic to religion. The deterministic tendency inherent in this claim downplays the role of ‘human agency’ in religious conflicts both as a source of violence and a resource for peace. Furthermore, this claim is insufficient for addressing the ‘real’ sources and causes of violent acts perpetrated in the name of religion. Against this background, this paper, explores the role of human agency in such a conflict; an aspect that has often been neglected. It presents the approach of Interreligious Hospitality as the best means to achieving non-violence.status: accepte
