In this presentation, I will look at the daily food practices of Muslims living in France. The aim is not to explain religious governance, but to focus on the everyday and ordinary life, looking at Muslims living in France to better understand how we can situate everyday religion in the public realm in relation to public governance of religion. The relation between public governance of religion and daily practices on the one hand appear to be in complete opposition, but on the other governance and daily practices are intermingled and create areas of contention.status: publishe
