Research agreements with a specific focus on research collaborations between public research organisations and companies

This ‘research’ on ‘research agreements’ will try to identify the very essence of research agreements taken into account the different parties (government, industry and knowledge institutions), the different types of research to be conducted and the way the parties collaborate with eachother. Collaboration means partnership which will often lead to conflicts because the parties have different goals. A university will seek publications and open innovations and a government will finance projects for their industrial policy while a corporation will be more competitive and prefer exclusive exploitation rights. Can we find enough common core elements that define the very essence of a research contract and does civil law provide enough guarantees so that parties that concluded a research contract will be protected, or are instead specific regulations necessary.status: publishe
