TecCOMFrame

TecCOMFrame is a brand­ new collaboration project that aims to develop and establish a joint European academic competence framework and prototype curricula for the training of technical communicators. The project has been approved for funding by the Erasmus Plus program. It is initiated by tekom Europe, Europe’s largest professional association for Technical Communication representing more than 8.000 professionals, and includes eight partners from higher education institutes across Europe. KU Leuven @ Antwerpen is proud to be one of the project partners. Next to promoting and further developing Technical Communication in Europe, e.g. by participating in developing European as well as international standards and by strengthening the occupational profile of the technical communicator, one of tekom Europe’s missions is to promote cooperation among universities and educational institutions at a European level. Therefore, with this project, an important step is made towards a knowledge transfer in terms of exchanging good practices with respect to curriculum construction, teaching, opportunities for industry cooperation and traineeships, student and staff exchange, and academic research in the field of Technical Communication. The major argument for a transnational, intercultural project team is the greater normative power. For the development of a common European framework it is absolutely necessary that different approaches and diverse perspectives and backgrounds are applied and the result is supported by as many stakeholders as possible. TecCOMFrame seeks to contribute precisely to the establishment of a firm and sustainable partnership between all the stakeholders involved at a European, national, and local level.
