The committee has set itself the goal of designing a template for a flexible PSI course with a view to homogenizing the current proliferation of courses on different levels and thereby, in the longer term, contributing to professional interpreting quality in this sector, while taking the reasons and causes for the present diversity in training into account. In order to accomplish its goal, the T&A committee has set itself the following sub-goals, to be accomplished step by step. 1. Determine Competences & skills 2. Develop Training & Curriculum 3. Develop Testing & Qualification 4. Determine Accreditation requirements 5. Simultaneously: draw up a glossary 6. Integrate 1-5 in a full report Stage 1. has been completed and was reported on at the Critical Link conference at Edinburgh in June 2016 by Heidi Salaets. The feedback we received at the conference has been integrated into the report on stage 1 and the persons who volunteered to take part in the committee work have been or will be invited to contribute to stage 2. The Alcalà presentation will report on the progress made (by March 2017) in translating the work done for stage 1. into the development of stage 2. In so doing, it will indicate crisis points and challenges to be tackled, again inviting members of the audience to join in the discussion and, subsequently, to join the committee, and share their expertise for specific items to be developed for sub-goal 2. It is by no means our intention to reinvent the wheel. Instead, we aim to draw on the expertise in training and curriculum development of those who have (already) joined our working group, besides some of the extensive literature that is available, and will welcome further interaction with the audience.status: publishe
