From Ordinary Object to Sculpture

What did I see, what did I learn For my presentation at the PRS in April 2013 I will present the investigations I made over the last two years regarding qualities of my practice. I will do so by showing different photos and artefacts which will allow me to construct a reflective framework in the form of a cloud, similar to the form I used for my first presentation at the GRC. I have been investigating various qualities concerning form, line and materiality when transforming ordinary objects into sculptures. I'm interested in how the materiality defines the qualities of a line or a cut. I will also give an account of how my drawing method based on the tracings has developed. I will explain how the surface of the drawing paper itself has become a sculptural element, and how the qualities of the lines brought me back to sculpture. I will explain what I learned by using the medium video to investigate and demonstrate qualities concerning the experience of time, form and spatiality in my work. I've been intrigued by the space-time experience in the works of different artists in my peer group. This interest has led me to curate a thematic exhibition about the systematic approach to aspects of space and time experience, by means of different ways of observation.
