The integration of nanotechnology into bioassays is having a great impact with the development of new nanostructures, nanodevices, nanomaterials or, in general, nanoparticles (NPs), such as nanoshells, nanowires, nanotubes and nanobarcodes, of a variety of shapes, sizes and composition [1-4].
