$657,275 Funding for AR Activities Fiscal Year 2017Funding to local health departments:$503,741 - RAPID DETECTION & RESPONSE to emerging drug-resistant germs is critical to contain the spread of these infections. With 2016 funding, Nevada\u2019s HAI/AR program, in collaboration with a local hospital, local public health department and the state public health lab rapidly contained NDM-1-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae, a novel CRE \u201cnightmare bacteria\u201d that is resistant to all 26 antibiotics available in the U.S. for this type of infection.$153,534 - FOOD SAFETY projects protect communities by rapidly identifying drug-resistant foodborne bacteria to stop and solve outbreaks and improve prevention. In Fiscal Year 2018, Nevada will ramp up testing to include whole genome sequencing of all Listeria, Salmonella, Campylobacter and E. coli isolates and simultaneously monitor these isolates for resistance genes. States upload the sequence data into PulseNet for nationwide monitoring of outbreaks and trends.
