An investigation of archive photographs from a personal source. We perceive Francis Bacon as intense and serious through photos and many of the recorded interviews from TV and Radio, also held at the Tate Archive Centre. We think of Bacon as an isolated soul, a tortured artist, heavy drinking in the famous Soho watering houses such as the Colony Room. The article challenges the myths that surround these stereotypical images, and show Bacon as relaxed and everyday, enjoying outings with his neighbour. His personality reveals in the found images that he is relaxed, and in touch with his gay identity
