La alfabetización en la universidad y su relación con las estrategias de aprendizaje

Literacy: speaking, reading and writing, through the construction of knowledge in formal education situations come into contact with the building of discipline-based knowledge (Wells, 1988) particularly in the University. An empirical study of the written production of the university students when faced with experiences in reading and writing shows the difficulty they have in understanding, communicating, and looking at a text with critical eye (Aragon and Ochoa, 2001). These results have led us to consider the relationship between the processes of reading and writing, and those of learning and teaching. Establishing a relationship would make it easier to recognize the influence that learning and teaching processes, and especially their strategies and tactics, could have on the type of literacy that a student could demonstrate in his/her interaction with reading and writing experiences, and at the same time suggest practical action that could help students take the step from a functional level of literacy to an epistemic level. The study highlights the need to use teaching-learning strategies which go beyond the repetitive and mechanical learning style, and which allow a meaningful and critical appropriation of the information, for the benefit and re-creation of discipline-based knowledge.La alfabetización: oralidad, lectura y escritura, media la construcción de conocimiento en escenarios educativos formales; particularmente en la Universidad atraviesa la construcción de conocimiento basado en disciplinas (Wells, 1988). Un estudio empírico sobre las producciones escritas de estudiantes universitarios frente a evento lectoescritores muestra las dificultades que ellos tienen para comprender, comunicar y dar una mirada crítica a los textos (Aragón y Ochoa, 2001). Estos resultados nos llevan a reflexionar sobre la relación entre los procesos de lectura y escritura y los procesos de aprendizaje y enseñanza. Establecer esta relación facilita reconocer la influencia que los procesos de aprendizaje y enseñanza, en especial sus estrategias y tácticas, pueden tener en el tipo de alfabetización que un estudiante presenta en sus interacciones con eventos lectoescritores, al tiempo que sugiere acciones concretas acerca de cómo facilitar en los sujetos el paso de un nivel funcional de alfabetización a un nivel epistémico.   La reflexión enfatiza la necesidad de utilizar estrategias de enseñanza-aprendizaje que vayan más allá de un aprendizaje repetitivo y mecánico que permitan la apropiación significativa y crítica de la información, en beneficio de la construcción y recreación del conocimiento basado en disciplinas
