Purpose: This work studies the situation in Mexico after the increase in the price of maize due to the higher production of ethanol in the United States and its dependence on imports, using the O’Connor theory on the second contradiction of capitalism. Description: It highlights the boost on agricultural activity in the United States and the absence of political mechanisms for the technical development of maize production in Mexico.
