Purpose: This proof of concept study was designed to assess the influence of prescription-strength Ibuprofen (IBU) on the repeated bout effect (RBE) of heavy exercise. METHODS: Eight males (23 ± 4 yrs) with no recent history of lower-body resistance training completed two separate testing phases separated by a seven-day washout period. Each phase consisted of two sessions of single-legged resistance exercise (RE), performed on the same leg, separated by ten days. One RE trial included 10 sets of 10 repetitions of maximal unilateral eccentric leg extensions at 120% 1RM.
