The researchers at the Department of Electricity at Uppsala University has recently entered the field of electric motor design, however no real knowledge of motor control of salient pole permanent magnet motors exists in the department. This master thesis is a continuation of a previous bachelor thesis that analyses the theory behind the control and simulating two different control methods. The two methods are here discarded for their high torque ripple. A third method is therefore implemented in this thesis to improve the performance. This thesis will present the design and construction of an inverter for driving of a 30kW permanent magnet motor intended for vehicle propulsion.
