Developmental regulation of the sumoylation pathway in the rat brain.

<p>Representative developmental expression profiles of SUMO1- and SUMO2/3-modified protein substrates and sumoylation (AoS1, Ubc9) and desumoylation (SENP1 and SENP6) enzymes. Whole rat brain homogenates at different ages, ranging from the embryonic day E9 to the post-natal day P14 and the adult (Ad) stage, were prepared in the presence of NEM to protect proteins from desumoylation as described in the <a href="http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0033757#s4" target="_blank">Method</a> section.
