<p>At 1 dpi GUS expression was observed in <i>UGD2</i>, <i>UGD3</i> and <i>UGD4</i> lines. No expression was observed in the <i>UGD1</i> line. At 2 dpi and 7 dpi expression of all four <i>UGD</i> genes was detected in syncytia. In addition, <i>UGD2</i> and <i>UGD3</i> expression was also observed in tissues outside syncytia. Expression of <i>UGD4</i> sometimes extended beyond the syncytium (<i>UGD4,</i> 7 dpi). Expression of all <i>UGD</i> genes was detected in 10 dpi syncytia. Promoter::<i>GUS</i> assay of <i>UGD1</i> (A, E, I and M), <i>UGD2</i> (B, F, J and N), <i>UGD3</i> (C, G, K and O) and <i>UGD4</i> (D, H, L and P) at 1 dpi (A–D), 2 dpi (E–H), 7 dpi (I–L) and 10 dpi (M–P).
