<p>IOP was elevated in one eye of WT and KO rats, while the other eye served as corresponding contralateral control. The rats were maintained for 4 weeks following IOP elevation. Rats were sacrificed and optic nerve sections were stained with paraphenylenediamine. Dark spots (white arrows) indicate dying/degenerating axons. Glial scar formation (black arrow heads) was more abundant in WT rats, compared to KO rats in IOP elevated eyes. Scale bar indicates 20 µm.</p
