Reaction of C<sub>60</sub> and W(CO)(PhCCPh)<sub>3</sub> in refluxing <i>o</i>-dichlorobenzene affords the fullerene complexes W(CO)(η<sup>2</sup>-C<sub>2</sub>Ph<sub>2</sub>)(η<sup>2</sup>-C<sub>60</sub>)(η<sup>4</sup>-C<sub>4</sub>Ph<sub>4</sub>) (<b>4</b>) and W(CPh)(CO)(η<sup>2</sup>-C<sub>60</sub>)(η<sup>5</sup>-C<sub>5</sub>Ph<sub>5</sub>) (<b>5</b>) and the η<sup>3</sup>-benzyl complex W(CO)<sub>2</sub>(η<sup>5</sup>:η<sup>3</sup>-C<sub>5</sub>Ph<sub>4</sub>(<i>o</i>-C<sub>6</sub>H<sub>4</sub>)CHPh) (<b>6</b>). The carbocylic groups in these compounds are arising from [2 + 2] and [2 + 2 + 1] cycloaddition of the diphenylacetylene ligands, likely induced by coordination of the bulky C<sub>60</sub> molecule.
