<p>mFr's (means ± SD) are displayed for the 4 model types (dashed lines), and for experimental data, averaged over 5 cortical cultures (black solid line). Randomly growing networks with (magenta ○) and without large GABA-ergic neurons (red ◊), as well as field-guided networks with (green □) and without large GABA-ergic neurons (blue •) are presented. In the presence of large GABA-ergic neurons field-guided networks started bursting 3 vDIVs earlier. For clarity, mean values and error bars representing standard deviations at a certain day were slightly shifted to avoid overlap. Typical examples of simulated and experimental burst profiles are shown in <a href="http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0043352#pone-0043352-g006" target="_blank">Figure 6</a>.
