<p>Nine previously established age-grading genes were tested on pooled mosquito samples of known ages (3, 5, 10, 15, 20, and 35 days post emergence). The gene <i>RPS17</i> was used as a loading control when running qRT-PCR on all nine genes. Three genes <i>SCP-1</i>/<i>Ae-15848</i>, <i>CG/Ae-8505</i>, <i>Fizzy/4274</i>, and the control <i>RPS17</i> were adopted from Cook et.al, 2006 <a href="http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0046946#pone.0046946-Cook1" target="_blank">[31]</a> while six genes, <i>AGAP009551</i>, <i>AGAP011615</i>, <i>AGAP002827</i>, <i>AGAP005501</i>, <i>AGAP009790</i>, <i>AGAP007963</i> were adopted from <i>An. gambiae</i> genes identified by Wang et.al 2010 <a href="http://www.plosone.org/articl...
