p38 kinase inhibitor impaired inducement of larvae settlement by adult extracts.

<p>(A) Fresh cyprids were placed in PS containers and treated with BSA or crude adult extracts. Settled larvae were counted after treatment for 8 hours. (B) Non-settled cyprids were collected after treatment for 8 hours and prepared for blotting with antibodies against actin, p38 and pp38, respectively. (C) The ratio of pp38 to p38 was presented as the mean ± S.E. of three replicates for each batch (at least three batches). For (A) and (C), Two-Way ANOVA was performed. The result indicated that adult extracts significantly affected larval settlement and pp38 level (P<0.05). Different doses used in this assay have no significant difference (P>0.05). (D) Cyprids were treated with only 20 µg ml⁻¹ of adult extracts or 20 µM of SB203580, respectively, or pre-treated with 20 µM of SB203580 for 24 hours and then plus 20 µg ml⁻¹ of adult extracts (double treatment).
