Apoptosis in the Liver.

<p><b>A</b>) TUNEL staining revealed apoptotic cells among hepatocytes and lymphocytes in liver from mice that received CpG and Poly(I:C), with or without autoreactive CTLs. <b>B</b>) TUNEL positive cells were more frequent in liver from mice that received NP-CTLs with TLR3 and 9 ligands or TLR ligands alone (ANOVA, Tukey post-hoc test, <i>p<</i>0.0001). <b>C</b>) Kinetic of apoptosis in the liver. A significant increase in the number of TUNEL⁺ cells in the liver was observed 72 hrs post-transfer (compared to 24 hrs), 2 days after TLR9 first stimulation. A significant increase was also observed 8 days after transfer (*<i>p</i><0.05, ***<i>p</i><0.001, ANOVA with Tukey post-test).
