A new series Zn<sup>II</sup> metal–organic compounds [both coordination complexes (CCs) and coordination polymers (CPs)] derived from bis-pyridyl ligands equipped with hydrogen-bonding functionality such as urea have been synthesized and characterized by single crystal X-ray crystallography.
