The newly designed organic ligand 2-(<i>p</i>-bromophenyl)-1<i>H</i>-imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid (<i>p</i>-BrPhH<sub>3</sub>IDC) has been successfully prepared and its coordination features were explored.
