<p>Scanning the transected surface of a white plaque from a 56-year-old woman who died of subarachnoid hemorrhage. White plaque observed by conventional angioscopy (a). Before administration of Evans blue (EB) dye, the plaque indicated by an arrow in (a) exhibited blue fluorescence with “A”-imaging (b) and green fluorescence with “B”-imaging (c). After administration of EB, violet fluorescence with “A”-imaging and reddish-brown fluorescence with “B”-imaging were observed in the superficial [arrowheads in (b-1) and (c-1)] and deep layer [arrows in (b-1) and (c-1)], indicating deposition of oxLDL. Histology revealed collagen fiber-rich plaque with lipid deposition in the deep layer (d).</p
