Effect of endocytosis inhibitors on the internalization of <i>Brucella</i> OMVs in monocytic THP-1 cells.

<p>Cells were pretreated with different doses of MDC or with 1 µg/ml Cytochalasin D for 30 min before the addition of FITC-labeled OMVs (1 µg/ml, final concentration). Inhibitors were maintained during incubation with OMVs (1 h). The total number of cells with associated OMVs was determined by flow cytometry as indicated in <a href="http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0050214#pone-0050214-g003" target="_blank">Figure 3</a>. Data shown are from one of three independent experiments done in duplicate, which yielded similar results. Asterisks indicate significantly differences between cells pretreated with inhibitors and untreated cells (**,p<0.01; ANOVA followed by Dunnett’s test). NT: not treated.
