Prevention of PIA in rats by BSSL neutralizing antibodies.

<p>DA male rats were immunized with pristane on day 0 to induce arthritis. Rats were randomized to receive different treatments on three separate occasions (day 5, 10, and 15) as follows: (A) Four groups of rats (n = 10 each) were treated with i.p. injection of either CDV15 antibody 1 mg/kg, CDV15 antibody 5 mg/kg, etanercept 1 mg/kg, or PBS (placebo control). (B) Three groups of rats (n = 10 each) were treated with one of the following: i.p. injection of CDV15 antibody 5 mg/kg, s.c. injection of CDV15 antibody 5 mg/kg, or PBS (i.p. injection). Arthritis development was followed by clinical scoring 2–3 times per week for 23 or 24 days after initial pristine injection. Mean scores of arthritis severity are shown.
