Spike triggered average from stochastic stimulation of squid giant axons.

<p>Squid giant axons were stimulated with our stochastic paradigm consisting of model EPSCs and IPSCs <a href="http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0045983#pone.0045983-Forger1" target="_blank">[1]</a>. The recording from which this result was taken contained 21 spikes (record duration was 100 sec). All 21 spikes are shown superimposed in the top panel using the maximum amplitude of each spike as a reference point. The underlying current waveforms were similarly aligned (middle panel). The average of these results ±2 SEM is shown in the bottom panel. This result is our candidate optimal stimulus waveform.
