<p>Toddlers viewed four On familiarization trials, an Off familiarization trial, and a final On familiarization trial. If toddlers failed to look towards the effect in the Off familiarization trial, then they viewed two additional trials (On, Off) before the final On trial. In the Audience condition, the puppet was audience member to the physical outcome event, laughing prior to the start of each trial. In the Epistemic Status condition, there was a wall between the puppet and the blocks, and a blindfold was placed over the puppet's eyes at the start of the experiment.</p
