Abstract

<p>J774 cells and neutrophils were infected with 100 or 10 MOI of <i>A. baumannii</i>, respectively, and extracellular bacteria were killed by gentamycin as detailed in <a href="http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0040019#pone-0040019-g004" target="_blank">Figure 4</a>. The cells were lysed at indicated times (hours) after infection to determine viable bacterial counts by quantitative bacteriology. Data are expressed as the percentage of the ingested bacteria that were killed by J774 cells or neutrophils at indicated time and presented as mean ± SD (n = 3 for J774 macrophages and n = 9 for neutrophils). The neutrophil data are compiled from three independent experiments.</p
