<p>The domains are determined as a function of the autonomous period of the cell cycle prior to coupling and of the strength of coupling (see text and <a href="http://www.ploscompbiol.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pcbi.1002516#s4" target="_blank">Methods</a>). We consider that the cell cycle is entrained when Cdk2 and Cdk1 both exhibit one large-amplitude peak per 24 h or 48 h. Entrainment of the cell cycle to 24 h occurs for autonomous periods smaller or larger than 24 h. The domains of entrainment are determined in the presence (A) or absence (B) of a basal rate of synthesis, <i>v</i><sub>swee1</sub>, of the kinase Wee1, which is equal to 0.06 µM h<sup>−1</sup> or 0, respectively.
