Expression of <i>Ngfr</i>, <i>Sort1</i> and <i>Ngf</i>, determined by in situ hybridization, in normal and intense light-treated retinas.

<p>Cryostat sections of the retina of BALB/c mice (n = 3 per experimental point) maintained in darkness (A) or subjected to intense light for 7 h and then kept in darkness for 6 (B) or 24 h (C) were processed for in situ hybridization with <i>Ngfr</i> (left column), <i>Sort1</i> (middle column), or <i>Ngf</i> (right column) probes. Specific labeling appears in dark brown. Representative images are shown. (B) Particular regions of the outer nuclear layer (ONL) were enriched in these mRNAs 6 h after illumination. Observe that the staining is not uniform across the ONL and that some patches show the most intense labeling (arrows).
