IFNβ transcription precedes the upregulation in ISG expression, with maximal ISG mRNA levels occurring approximately 12 hours after administration of poly (I∶C).

<p>ECC-1 (<i>n = 3</i>) (a–d) and primary human UEC (<i>n = 5</i>) (e–h) were cultured on cell inserts and then apically stimulated with poly (I∶C) for 3, 6, 12 and 24 hours. ECC-1 cells were stimulated with 0.25, 2.5 or 25 µg/ml of poly (I∶C) while UEC were stimulated with 25 µg/ml of poly (I∶C). Total cellular mRNA was recovered and analyzed for gene expression. mRNA is expressed as a fold change over untreated samples (assigned a value of 1).
