<p>adaptive walks (AW) on the original () and encoded () landscapes and randomly generate and test (RGT) on the encoded landscape (). The plotted performance value is the fraction of instances for which the considered evolutionary dynamics is “leading” at time , i.e. has an energy not larger than the other two types of dynamics. For each landscape, 100 random instances are used with sizes in panels (a) and (b), in panel (c). On each of the instances, each type of evolutionary dynamics is run once with randomly drawn initial condition for RGT and AW in the encoded landscape. The AW on the original landscape is initialized with the mapped state . Thus all three dynamics are started at the same energy.</p
