Abstract

(A) Body weight as a function of age was measured in 11 wild-type (WT) and 16 knockout (KO) mice. (B) Food intake: food consumption was monitored in 16 wild-type (WT) and 11 knockout (KO) mice. Fat retained: the percentage of fat retained by 4 wild-type (WT) and 8 knockout (KO) mice. 100% corresponds to 200 mg of lipids retained/mouse/24 hours for WT, and 276 mg of lipids retained/mouse/24 hours for KO. These data were calculated from the measured amount of lipid ingested minus the measured amount of lipid excreted in the feces. Statistically significant differences between wild-type and knockout are indicated by * (p<0.05).</p
