Durling's scholarly activities are concerned principally with: 1) building an international scholarly infrastructure to support high quality research and to disseminate its outcomes; and 2) standards of doctoral education. A selection of both kinds of research activity are shown here. Conference organisation is often in conjunction with major research societies (Design Research Society, International Association of Societies of Design Research), and has the intention of developing standards for conference peer review.
