William M. Rice Institute's football player, Dicky Maegle, has just been tackled by the University of Alabama football player, Tommy Lewis, during the 1954 Cotton Bowl game. Lewis illegally tackled Maegle from the Alabama sideline. Several Alabama football players are on the field, including number 33, as well as William M. Rice Institute football player number 78. The sideline is crowded with off-field Alabama players and coaching staff. Despite the controversial move, the Rice Owls were awarded a touchdown.
