This is a presentation transcript for Structures and Materials : Section 1 : statics. It provides an introduction to the module, including forces, moments, and the concepts of free-body diagrams and static equilibrium. These concepts are used to solve static framework (truss) problems using two methods: the method of joints and the method of sections. This open educational resource was released through the Higher Education Academy Engineering Subject Centre Open Engineering Resources Pilot project. The project was funded by HEFCE and the JISC/HE Academy UKOER programme.
