From the fossil to the humus: art, body and earth in the anthropocene

Do Fóssil ao Húmus, uma análise interdisciplinar, artístico-teórica, sobre o petróleo, seus usos e sua presença na sociedade, assim como sobre as transformações motivadas pela emergência das mudanças climáticas e pela reflexão acerca do humano enquanto força geológica no planeta. Ao modo de uma montagem não-linear, a pesquisa artística atravessa campos como arqueologia, geologia, química, biologia, história, filosofia, antropologia, sociologia, e adentra a esfera da política a partir de uma investigação da matéria fóssil, formada pelo elemento carbono, e em diálogo com o pensamento de autores como Bruno Latour, Donna Haraway, Michel Serres, Timothy Mitchell, Lucy Lippard, Déborah Danowski e Eduardo Viveiros de Castro, assim como com a obra de artistas como Robert Smithson, Ana Mendieta, J. M. W. Turner, Giuseppe Penone, entre outros. Obras e textos artísticos da autora compõem o conteúdo e materializam reflexões acerca do colapso de escalas entre o humano e o planeta, o corpo e a Terra, e relações intrínsecas entre natural e artificial, natureza e arte. Entre imagens, palavras e matérias, a tese busca examinar a arte enquanto propositora de figurações para o presente e para o futuro, especialmente diante do novo regime termodinâmico do planeta Terra.From the Fossil to the Humus, an interdisciplinary analisis, artistic and theoretical, on oil, its uses and its presence in society, as well as about the transformations driven by the rise of climate change and the consideration of the human agent as a geological force on the planet. As a non-linear montage, the artistic research crosses disciplinary fields like archaeology, geology, chemistry, biology, history, philosophy, anthropology, sociology, and enters the realms of politics from an investigation on the fossil matter, made by the carbon element. The enquiry proposes dialogues with the thought of authors like Bruno Latour, Donna Haraway, Michel Serres, Timothy Mitchell, Lucy Lippard, Déborah Danowski and Eduardo Viveiros de Castro, as well as with the work of artists like Robert Smithson, Ana Mendieta, J. M. W. Turner, Giuseppe Penone, among others. The author's art works and artistic writings are part of the content and materialize thoughts about the scale colapse between the human and the planet, body and Earth, and the bounded relationship between natural and artificial, nature and art. Between images, words and matters, the thesis explores art as proponent of figurations for the present and the future, specially in the new thermodynamic order of the Earth
