Analysis of hereditary orthopedic joint diseases of the most popular dog breeds in Lithuania

The size of the work : 67 pages, 72 pictures, 31 table, 54 literature sources. The purpose of the work was to find out in practice about orthopedic canine limb diseases, how to identify it , to treat and use prophylaxis methods. To collect statistics data about joint diseases in canine, to analyze it and find out from results if pathology progresses or regresses in dogs from Lithuania and foreign countries who are certified, registrated in LŠVK on 2011 – 2015 years and are planned to use in futher breeding. During the investigation work information was considered about patella luxation, elbow and hip dysplasia in most popular breeds in Lithuania incidence. About quantity of orthopedic diagnosis tests which are necessary if the dog is going to be used for breeding. Examination information was compared with OFA (The Ortopedic fundation for Animals) data. Pathologies have been classified according to degrees and the years of research. Patella luxation was most common in Yorkshire terrier breed. Elbow dysplasia was most common in rottweiler breed, and hip dysplasia in golden retriever breed
