<p><b>(A)</b> Kaplan-Meier survival curve of clindamycin-treated Syrian golden hamsters inoculated with 2,000 vegetative cells of <i>C</i>. <i>difficile</i> R20291 (n = 10) or <i>sinRR’</i> mutant (n = 10). Six animals were used as an uninfected control. Animals were monitored every four hours for the symptoms of lethargy, poor fur coat, wet tail or hunched posture. Moribund animals were euthanized and <i>log</i>-rank statistical analysis was performed; <i>p</i><0.001. (B) Total number of <i>C</i>. <i>difficile</i> colony forming units (CFU) /gm of cecal contents recovered postmortem.</p
