An experimental investigation has specifically been carried out to study surface flow details during the shut down phase in a thrust optimized parabolic (TOP) rocket nozzle with Goertler vortex formation. The intention has also been to investigate the flow field characteristics prevailed during restricted shock separation (RSS) condition in order to co-relate the flow behavior leading to the side-load origin.Tests were made in the P6.2 cold gas sub-scale test facility at DLR Lamplodshausen with a TOP nozzle of area ratio 30 and for unit Reynolds number range of 3.993 - 4.482 x 10^5 m^-1. Wall pressure measurements and surface oil method was used to highlight the flow field features.13
