A Historical Study of the Port of Hull During the Thirteenth Century

The history of the port of Hull during the thirteenth century has presented a problem for historians in which has never been completely solved. This problem is centered around the traditional building of Hull in 1293 by Edward I. According to this tradition, Hull did not exist until this time. Evidence in the chronicle of the monastery of Meaux and those close and patent rolls, however, indicates that Hull was a port of some importance in the thirteenth century
