A dusty stretch of the Transamazon highway . With the exception of a few trees, most of the original equatorial rain forest along its over 2,500 km has been devastated. In the 1970s, various other major highways were built to link the region with the rest of the country, such as the Belém -Brasilia (2,100 km) and the Cuiabá -Porto VelhoRio Branco (1900 km)/Manaus (2,300 km) highways.Um trecho empoirado da Transamazónica.
