Technological development for the automation of the API filtration system for the sludge and cement laboratory of the Fundación Universidad de América

In the Lodos and Cementos laboratory, the API filtration practice is performed to analyze properties and behavior of water-based sludge in the respective step-by-step of the general process. The API Press Filter is an instrument that is used to simulate this behavior at the laboratory level to the low pressure-low temperature fluids in the static state used in drilling wells in the ground. The critical variables that determine the filtration process are: duration time, temperature, filtrate volume and pressure. The reliability and veracity of the results are achieved by developing the process with technological advances and designing an instrument with options of visualization and improvement of the filtration. For the measurements and control of the variables, a methodology is developed in which the student performs the same procedure but adding components with technological development, such as: the sensors for each variable and the start and end of the process in an automated way.En el laboratorio de Lodos y Cementos se realiza la práctica de filtración API para análisis de propiedades y comportamiento de lodos base agua en el paso a paso respectivo del proceso general. El Filtro Prensa API, es un instrumento que se utiliza para simular este comportamiento a nivel de laboratorio a los fluidos baja presión- baja temperatura en estado estático utilizado en operaciones de perforación de pozos de sondeo en la tierra. Las variables críticas que determinan el proceso de filtración son: el tiempo de duración, la temperatura, el volumen del filtrado y la presión. La confiabilidad y veracidad de los resultados se logran desarrollando el proceso con avances tecnológicos y diseñando un instrumento con opciones de visualización y mejoramiento del filtrado. Para las mediciones y control de las variables, se desarrolla una metodología en donde el estudiante realice el mismo procedimiento pero agregando componentes con desarrollo tecnológico, como son: los sensores para cada variable y el inicio y fin del proceso de forma automatizada.Fundación Universidad de Améric
