In this study five recent monsoon seasons in succession (ie from 1987 to 1991) were considered to see how far the distribution of rainfall and floods, the two main products of the monsoon season, differed from one another over the contiguous Indian area. This study shows that no two monsoon seasons are alike whether in rainfall or in floods. -Author
