This issue features two articles by Ruth and Maurie Crow.\ud A) "Women in Australian suburbia" is a special contribution designed to stimulate policy in conjunction with United Nations Habitat (Human Settlement) Conference in Vancouver in which Ruth discusses the women's liberation movement, consumerism, social problems, ecology and urban issues.\ud B) In “Mobile privatism or convivial community”, Maurie discusses:\ud 1. Two Stereotypes (pg. 9) – raised are ecological concerns for fossil-fuel conservation, proposing deployment of public transport and development of a more cooperative convivial and low-energy city lifestyle, whilst preserving the possibility of privacy;\ud 2. Ring Freeways no halo (pg. 12) – debate on the choice between two systems of freeways: circumferential and radial freeway, and that of mobile privatism and convivial community;\ud 3. Inner areas no doughnut (p. 19) – review of current design of Melbourne inner areas and the ideal most consistent with the convivial community stereotype.\u
