Online Vocabulary of Pakistani Adolescents Studying English as a Second Language: An Exploratory Study

This paper reports on a pilot study focusing on the recent evolution of English vocabulary used by\ud Pakistani adolescents online. The reason for conducting this study was to explore the influence of\ud English as a second language on adolescent social online dialogue outside the classroom. As some\ud linguists claim that culture and language are closely linked (Sapir-Whorf), this research explores to\ud what degree the study of a foreign language influences its use, even when communicating in the\ud mother tongue
