This article describes the principles of evidence-based medicine and how these principles may be\ud implemented in osteopathic practice and applied to the use of muscle energy technique. Because the\ud feasibility of strict adherence to ‘evidence-based’ principles is debated, an approach of ‘evidence informed\ud practice’ is recommended. The principles and diagnostic and treatment practices associated\ud with muscle energy technique are re-examined in light of recent research. Implications for the application\ud of muscle energy are outlined, and recommendations are made regarding clinical practic
